Joy Lumawig-Buensalido is President & CEO of Buensalido & Associates Public Relations, which she founded in 1983 after a five year stint as PR Account Supervisor at Ace-Compton Advertising (now Ace Saatchi) where she handled accounts for Nestle, Procter & Gamble, and Pepsi-Cola among others. Her career includes having worked as project officer with the Development Academy of the Philippines, Communication officer for Responsible Parenthood Council, a family planning-NGO, and as a professor and lecturer at the University of Santo Tomas and Assumption College handling various subjects such as writing for radio and TV, public relations and communication.

Buensalido’s roster of accounts over the last 30 years consists of top corporations and brands such as Avon, Makati Medical Center, Smart Communications, National Bookstore, History & Lifetime Channels, Shopwise & Rustan’s Supermarkets, Shangri-la Mall & Properties and Globe Platinum.

Joy graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Broadcast Communication and holds a Master’s degree in Communication Research from the same university. She was President of UP College of Mass Communications Alumni Association from 1997 to 2002 and Chairperson of the Philippine Chapter of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) from 2006 to 2009.

In 1999, she published a centennial coffee table book on women called “100 Women of the Philippines”, and has been a contributing author to several published books such as “How to Make it in PR” (2007) and “Teacher Teacher: A Tribute to Teachers Everywhere” (2012). She also published a book called “Pinoy Manners” (2016), a light but insightful modern-day guide to delicadeza for all generations.

Joy is married to dermatologist Dr. Adrian H. Buensalido and serves in her community as a lector/commentator in church and as a member of the “Sounds of Santiago”, a choir composed of married couples & professionals from Ayala Alabang.
