Mr. Edralin has the distinction of having had the longest and the most extensive experience in the practice of public relations in the country. He worked with Mr. Jose A. Carpio, the founder of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, in establishing the PR office of San Miguel Corporation in the 1960s and then went on to head the Public Affairs Office of Citibank for 22 years, retiring as a vice president. He has since served as PR consultant of many companies, including Amsterdam-based ING Bank. At 85, he is the PR consultant of the Governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. He has also served as information officer of the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization with headquarters in Bangkok.
He introduced to PRSP and served as the first chairman of the committee that administered the APR program to accredit PR practitioners who meet the highest standards of the profession and are entitled to carry the title. He holds the Gawad Panday, the highest award given by the PRSP. He is one of the first Filipino members of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and has attended meetings as well of the Public Relations Society of America.
Mr. Edralin has served as president of PRSP, the Bank Marketing Association of the Philippines, which he helped to organize more than 40 years ago, and several civic organizations. He worked as a journalist for 10 years, a reporter of the Philippines Herald, before going into public relations. He is remembered as one of 5 journalists who went to jail in 1955 in defense of press freedom, for which reason newspapermen today cannot be compelled to divulge the source of their information unless it involved the security of the state. Journalism students take this up in school.
